Our Journey: Weaving Tradition and Progress
Illuminating minds, empowering Masonic excellence, and fostering brotherhood. Uniting seekers of wisdom in California and beyond.

OUR STORY

Our story is a tapestry woven with threads of tradition and progress, a testament to the enduring legacy of Freemasonry. Spanning decades, our Orient has evolved to meet the needs and aspirations of today's Masonic community. From the foundations of Brotherly Love, Tolerance, Charity, and Truth, we've crafted a journey of continual growth, blending ancient teachings with contemporary perspectives. We've carved a path where the wisdom of the past harmoniously coexists with the innovations of today. The heart of our Orient beats in unison with the belief that our Masonic journey is both personal and collective, a voyage where individuals are welcomed to explore and embrace the transformative realm of Scottish Rite. This is our story—an ever-evolving narrative of enlightenment, unity, and brotherhood.

F.A.Q.'s

The Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, commonly known as the Scottish Rite, is one of several groups that are part of the worldwide fraternity known as Freemasonry. The Scottish Rite is the largest and most widely practiced Masonic Rite in the world and employs a lodge system.
While there is no Masonic degree more important than that of Master Mason, there is a long tradition—almost as old as Freemasonry—of “high degrees” that expand upon and elaborate the teachings and lessons of the first three degrees. The Scottish Rite degrees teach a series of moral lessons culminating in the 32°, Master of the Royal Secret. The Scottish Rite continues a Master Mason’s education in many ways.
The governing body of the Scottish Rite is the Supreme Council. It is composed of active and deputy members of the 35 states and several overseas jurisdictions that make up the Southern Jurisdiction. Each state or jurisdiction that belongs to the Southern Jurisdiction is called an Orient. We are the Scottish Rite Orient of California. The local Scottish Rite body is called a Valley.

The Scottish Rite Orient of California Leadership
The Orient of California is managed by the Deputy of the Supreme Council, 33°, SJ. He oversees the 20 different Valleys that construct the Scottish Rite Orient of California. Each Valley has a representative to the Deputy who helps manage and oversee the administration of the local organizations.
